For what purpose is personal data collected?
StartHub is a startup center located in the Isku Center in Lahti, Finland, which is a joint effort of the City of Lahti, LAB University of Applied Sciences, and Isku to promote growth entrepreneurship.
StartHub serves both already established startup companies and students considering starting a business. It offers approximately 500 square meters of space, which can be used free of charge during the early stages of startup entrepreneurship. In StartHub’s space, companies can easily network and find new joint business opportunities.
Personal data is collected for StartHub’s operations and LAB University of Applied Sciences’ business collaboration, including:
- Customer data maintenance
- Communication, marketing, and information
- Events and competitions
- Business collaboration
- Quotations and financial administration
- Partnerships and networks

We collect personal data as follows:
- Contact information, phone numbers, and email addresses, professional information
- Postal and billing addresses in customer or stakeholder relationships

The main basis for collecting personal data is the consent of the data subject or a contractual relationship. For StartHub customers and partners, the basis for collecting personal data may be the legitimate interest of the data controller.

Personal data is transferred to the Lyyti participant data management service for event registrations and to Webropol for survey and feedback management.
Personal data is transferred to LAB University of Applied Sciences Ltd.’s stakeholders to the extent required for jointly implemented measures.
Personal data is collected in the HubSpot database for StartHub’s customer relationship management. Communication and marketing related to business collaboration and service providers and their administration are described in LAB’s communication and marketing data protection statement.
Who has access to the data: StartHub staff has access to the personal data in the registries, as well as LAB staff involved in business collaboration to the extent required by their job duties.
Where is the data transferred?
Data is generally not transferred outside the EU or the European Economic Area.
Some of HubSpot Inc.’s servers are located outside the EU area. Data is processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/679).
Secure storage of collected data
We do not store manual materials. Digital materials are accessible only through personal authentication to the network.
How long is the data stored?
Data related to StartHub’s operations is stored as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected or as long as required by law and regulations. Outdated and unnecessary data is disposed of in an appropriate manner. We store personal data only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes of processing personal data defined in this data protection statement.
What kind of decision-making?
No automated decisions are made in the processing.
Use of cookies
In browser-based information systems for processing personal data, cookies are used. A cookie is a small text file stored on the user’s device by the browser. Cookies are used to implement services, facilitate logging into services, and enable usage statistics of services. The user can block the use of cookiesin their browser, but this may prevent the proper functioning of the system.
Cookies are used to identify visitor location information and browsing habits on the page with the help of third-party analytics services. The cookies used are a feature of the website. Cookie information is not used in personal data processing.
